Terms of Service

These terms govern use of the Gatesettle payment gateway by merchants. They are a Phase 1 draft published for review and are not yet a binding agreement.

1. What the service does

We provide infrastructure that lets you accept payments in supported crypto assets and receive settlement in the asset and chain you select. On EVM chains, payments are split between the platform fee and your settlement wallet atomically by a smart contract, and we never hold your funds.

2. Transient custody on non-EVM chains

On Bitcoin, Litecoin and Tron, deposits arrive at addresses derived from a hierarchical deterministic wallet and are swept to your settlement wallet on a short, fixed schedule. The platform signs that sweep, which constitutes technically transient custody. Custodial features beyond this — cross-chain settlement, settlement advance and store credit — are opt-in and are only enabled where we hold the required licence or work through a licensed partner.

3. Irreversibility and refunds

Blockchain transactions cannot be reversed. A refund is therefore a new outbound transfer to the original paying address, or to an address you provide and we verify. In non-custodial mode you sign refunds with your own wallet; we only prepare the transaction.

4. Prohibited businesses

• Unlicensed gambling or lotteries
• Adult services where prohibited by the applicable jurisdiction
• Weapons, ammunition and controlled explosives
• Narcotics and unapproved pharmaceuticals
• Sanctioned parties, jurisdictions and mixing services
• Ponzi, pyramid and high-yield investment schemes

5. Limits and verification

Accounts begin unverified with a low monthly cap. Completing business verification raises that cap; enhanced verification is required for the highest tiers. We may hold funds where technically possible while a compliance review is open.

6. Availability

Confirmation timing depends on the underlying networks. A confirmed payment can be reverted by a chain reorganisation until finality is reached; corrections are recorded as compensating ledger entries and a reversal notification is sent to your endpoint.
